Locally Product Updates March 2023

Last month, Locally made significant updates to our products to make the shopping experience more consumer-centric, and to help our brand and retail partners make more sales. These updates include Product Locator brand font support, custom cart messaging, new marketing opt-ins, a Flex Offers integration, store imagery updates, new country and language support, and a Buy It Locally algorithm update. Learn more about these exciting updates below. For any questions about recent product updates, email support@locally.com.

Product Locator Brand Font Support

We’ve updated our Product Locator to provide font customization for our brand partners. The Product Locator will now load a brand’s chosen font instead of Locally’s default font, creating a more cohesive brand experience for shoppers.

Custom Cart Messaging

Stores offering Buy It Locally can now add their own, custom cart messaging to communicate any additional details to customers. Learn more about custom cart messaging here.

Brand Marketing Consent Opt-in

Shoppers checking out using the new Product Locator can now opt-in to receive brand marketing emails, in addition to marketing emails from the store from which they’ve purchased. The opt-in response is available to brands via their Order History exports. We’ve published more information on this new feature here.

This is currently exclusive to our new Product Locator but is coming soon on additional tools. In the meantime, orders placed on other tools will display “N/A”.

New Flex Offers Integration

Locally can now refer shoppers to complete their BOPIS purchase via a retailer’s own cart using Flex Offers, a platform that aggregates product feed and sales tracking tools. Locally launched the first pilot of this feature with Tractor Supply Co. and Blain’s Farm & Fleet.

Retailers that offer BOPIS and Flex Offers can apply to Locally through the Flex Offers admin panel.

Note that the resulting sales are not being logged in Locally’s portal yet. (ETA: Q2 2023). Locally also offers integrations with Impact Radius, Avantlink, and Rakuten.

Mexico Product Locator and ROPIS/BOPIS Support

Mexican Spanish (es-mx) is now supported in our Product Locator, ROPIS and BOPIS checkout, and post-purchase shopper communication. Locally’s first partner launching this new feature is Trek Bikes, expanding to Mexico with Locally in Q2.

If you’re interested in expanding your Locally tools in Mexico, reach out to your Client Success Manager or email support@locally.com to get started.

Storefront Image Update for the Product Locator

Stores now have the option to add a storefront image to our Product Locator. Previously, the only option for stores was to add a logo. This feature allows online shoppers to easily recognize nearby stores familiar to them.

Country-Specific Product Locator Results

If a Locally brand partner is specifying a country in their Product Locator embed code, the Product Locator will load stores in that country only. This gives brands more flexibility to implement Locally on country-specific websites.

Learn more about restricting your Product Locator by country here.

Buy It Locally Algorithm Update

Our sorting algorithm has been updated to only prioritize stores offering Buy It Locally ahead of stores that do not within 30 miles or 50km, whereas the previous distance was unlimited.

For example, a store that has a product in stock, offers Buy It Locally, and is within 30 miles will be prioritized over a store that is closer and has the product in stock but does not offer Buy It Locally.

With the rising consumer demand for BOPIS and ROPIS, this update shows shoppers stores that offer those purchase options with Buy It Locally.
